Netherlands and Thailand strengthen higher education ties

On 6 March Nuffic opened a Netherlands Education Support Office (Neso) in the heart of Bangkok.
The opening of Neso Thailand reconfirms the strong ties between the
Netherlands and Thailand in the area of higher education. Dr Sumate
Yammnoon, Secretary General of the Commission on Higher Education of
the Ministry of Education spoke at the occasion, as did the Netherlands
ambassador Tjaco T. van den Hout. Other speakers were E. Martijnse of
the Netherlands Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and Sander
van den Eijnden, director general of Nuffic, the Netherlands
Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education. Mr. van
den Eijnden performed the official opening ceremony, as Neso Thailand
is part of Nuffic’s global network of Netherlands education support offices.
Window into higher education in the Netherlands
The Neso is intended to serve as a window into higher education in the Netherlands and is part of Nuffic. Neso Thailand provide information on studying in the Netherlands, on scholarships and the reality of life in the Netherlands. It additionally facilitates contact between Dutch and Thai higher education institutes, allowing them to identify potential areas of cooperation.
The Neso office in Thailand is the 10th office to be opened, following Neso offices in Indonesia, China, Taipei, Vietnam, Mexico, India, South Korea, Brazil and Russia. The Director of the Netherlands Education Support Office is Mr Soehirman Patmo. He heads a small team of Thai employees.
