Neso Vietnam university tour
19 Feb 2009
The objectives of this tour are three fold: firstly the introduction of Nuffic, Neso Vietnam and the new director of Neso Vietnam, Mr. Malte Stokhof. Secondly, to create a network and see if there are possibilities for match-making between the higher education institutes of both countries. Thirdly, to deepen the understanding of Vietnamese education and the promotion and branding of Holland as an excellent study destination.
The first objective, introduction of the new director of Neso Vietnam, is not only a formality. In Vietnam business is often conducted after personal relationships are established. The former director of Neso Vietnam had a network that should be reiterated by the new director. Only after our Vietnamese colleagues and the new director have met in person does the second objective come into play.
To create a network, Neso has set out to open the way to develop new relationships while strengthening existing co operations between Neso Vietnam and Vietnamese universities. The first meetings have paved the way for future initiatives of cooperation between Vietnamese and Dutch Higher education institutes.
A third objective is to deepen Neso’s understanding of Vietnamese education. During meetings Neso Vietnam documents the advice given and the needs expressed by the Vietnamese colleagues of the institutes visited. Neso aims to forward such advice and requests to Dutch institutes. Neso also aims to inform Vietnamese colleagues in the educational sector about Dutch higher education. Neso Vietnam provides the universities with documentation from Dutch universities that have similar curricula and teach similar subjects. In this respect, during this tour several key universities in Vietnam have granted Neso Vietnam permission to organize a series of seminars for their students and lecturers within the compounds of their institutes. Neso focuses during these sessions on two subjects: one is the Study in Holland presentation and two is the introduction and explanation of our prestigious scholarships and programs: Huygens, NFP and NPT.
